When he finally reached Diani, around 3am, TL Elder actually thought presenting himself to the police will be a good thing so he voluntarily went to Diani Police Station. However while there, the police threatened him with arrest and detainment. They traumatized him further. It had to take the joint efforts of our VOCAL Africa and Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI) officers to get him released and rushed to hospital. @NPSOareicial_KE are so insensitive. Nkt!

Last night around 8.30pm in Majengo, Nairobi, Ibrahim Ramadhan, 17 year old student at Kamukunji High, was shot by police while coming from the mosque for night prayers. He succumbed to the gun shot a few hours later at Kenyatta hospital. The killing has sparked riots in Majengo this morning where it is reported others have been shot.

Today in Siu island of Lamu county, the police have woken up to whip and beat people up for no apparent reason. When people came out to ask why and demand an end to the harassment, police have chosen to use live ammunition. Gunshots have reigned the air and it is reported over 30 people have been injured so far.

India and Kenya are not far apart economically. 1 Indian Rupee is not more than 1.4 Kenya shillings. Yet India seems so advanced infrastructurally than Kenya. For example, Bangalore is not even the 3rd or 4th biggest city in India, yet its airport is so much bigger, more beautiful and more advanced than our JKIA. Why can’t Kenya match up???

Now police are curtailing freedom of movement! Nkt! Hundreds of youth from Nairobi who had attended the Diani Summer Tide Festival have been stopped at the Dongo Kundu bypass near Likoni, Mombasa. They were to catch the 2pm SGR to Nairobi but they have been stopped by police who are saying if allowed to proceed, the youth will go to Nairobi and attend 77 protests. Police have refused to release them saying they are awaiting “orders from above”. This is absolute madness. Freedom of movement is a constitutional guarantee. Now police want to dictate to Kenyans where to go and where not to?
