They told me it’s illegal not to be in possession of my ID. I told them to show me the law that says so. Obvious they couldn’t because there’s no such law.

The autopsy of Eric, who was shot and killed by police, was scheduled for today but could not proceed as planned. This is because on preliminary examination of the body, the pathologist could not confirm any bullet exit wounds despite seeing the entry wounds. He therefore called for an X-ray of the body to be done first to confirm the presence of the bullets and their exact positions in the body. Meanwhile, the family and VOCAL Africa continue to call for justice for Eric and his family.

When he finally reached Diani, around 3am, TL Elder actually thought presenting himself to the police will be a good thing so he voluntarily went to Diani Police Station. However while there, the police threatened him with arrest and detainment. They traumatized him further. It had to take the joint efforts of our VOCAL Africa and Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI) officers to get him released and rushed to hospital. @NPSOareicial_KE are so insensitive. Nkt!

His family wailed that he left them no child to remember him with. Family suspects that police might have tempered with his body in such of bullet remains that was likely inside the body. VOCAL Africa is working with the family to push for justice.

Another death after shooting by police! 44 years old wife and mother of one, Maureen Nduku, has lost her life a few hours ago today after succumbing to a bullet injury allegedly inflicted by police. Maureen was shot on Monday, 3rd August, in Gikomba area. There was a commotion in the area which police responded to and in the process they fired some shots. One of the shots hit Maureen, exited and hit a 16 years old boy in the leg who was next to Maureen. While the boy is recuperating at Kenyatta hospital, unfortunately, Maureen has lost her life today at the same hospital.

They were to catch the 2pm SGR to Nairobi but they have been stopped by police who are saying if allowed to proceed, the youth will go to Nairobi and attend 77 protests. Police have refused to release them saying they are awaiting “orders from above”. This is absolute madness. Freedom of movement is a constitutional guarantee. Now police want to dictate to Kenyans where to go and where not to?

India and Kenya are not far apart economically. 1 Indian Rupee is not more than 1.4 Kenya shillings. Yet India seems so advanced infrastructurally than Kenya. For example, Bangalore is not even the 3rd or 4th biggest city in India, yet its airport is so much bigger, more beautiful and more advanced than our JKIA. Why can’t Kenya match up???
