Appreciation post for Minister Mhona Felix Tapiwa Mhona Yesterday, I was kumusha ku Mhondoro. I decided to go and buy some building materials pa Mubaira. My driver had been telling me that the road that myself and other MPs from Mhondoro, including Mutsa Murombedzi and the current MP, Hon. Chamu Chiwanza, were making noise about in Parliament and Social Media was being fixed. As a responsible opposition MP, I must, in the same manner that I made noise about the state of the road, also come here today and appreciate the work done by the government through the Minister of Transport, Hon. Mhona, for listening to your fellow MPs and delivering. Even though it is still gravel, we must still appreciate it and say, "Thank you." Min Mhona , Hon Chamu Chiwanza the area MP and Myself we are ALL MHOFU 🤔

When doing cattle fattening, you need a lot of chicken litter, so I always keep broilers to help produce it. I just finished with the vet. Remember the cattle I bought for pen fattening? Among them were 6 cows that an experienced farmer encouraged me to buy because they had big frames and only needed to be pen-fed for 45 days. They weighed an average of 300kg, and I paid about $500 for each. So far, they have added about 65kg. If I slaughter one now, I will get about 210kg of meat, which I will sell for $5 per kg and get $1050. If I add the offals, head, and mazondo, that's another $100, bringing it to $1150. The $50 will remain at the abattoir, so I will have $1100. If you have a butcher, you can sell for even up to $7 or $8 per kg, depending on the grade. But now, after the vet visited, 4 of the 6 cows are pregnant. That's good news for another farmer but bad for me, because pen fattening is more profitable than waiting for a year uchikama mukaka, only to end up with another mombe worth $500. I hope you get the maths.

To those who DM asking if Pig farming is profitable my answer is yes it’s a business with incredible returns. Just this month, I sold 20 porkers averaging 70kg at $3.5/kg. That's a gross of $4,900! After transport and slaughter fees, I walked away with a clean $4,500. The best part? I reinvested $1,500 of that directly into buying a Boran Bull and $3000 on 7 heifers. And the cycle continues: some of my sows give birth to 20-24 piglets at a time. The 20 I sold could easily have come from just one sow. Just sharing so you can see how productive and lucrative pig farming can be.

This is the current state of the road from Mhondoro, specifically the section between Mubaira and Binda, which I used last week. It is truly disheartening. I remember when I was young, my uncle—the late Governor of Mash West, Cde. Rukarwa—constantly raised the issue of this road. Funds for this road were misused as far back as the 80s My brother, Minister Felix Tapiwa Mhona, has assured Parliament that the government will prioritize this road. However, to this day, nothing has been done. I have spoken in Parliament on multiple occasions, and other MPs, including Mutsa Murombedzi MP🇿🇼 and the local MP, Hon. Chiwanza, have also added their voices. We are now collectively urging the Minister to at least send a grader to make the road usable while we await its full rehabilitation and tarring.

A few weeks ago, when I said my simple biogas digester turns 4 buckets of pig waste inoiswa daily mu biogas digester which in 2 weeks turns into 3000m3 of organic fertilizer some of which we are using for this maize field, some people thought I was exaggerating. 😄 Well, this is that field. Every single plant you see is thriving on nothing but the rich, liquid organic fertilizer produced as a byproduct of our biogas system. This isn't magic, it's microbiology. While the biogas (methane) gets used for cooking by my workers and heat for my piglets in the farrowing pens , the digested slurry is full of nutrients, ready to feed the soil. It's a closed-loop system right here on the farm in Mhondoro: The skeptics wanted proof? Here it is. The health of this crop speaks louder than any argument.

Cars belonging to Senator Mwonzora President of the MDC-T party were attacked today at the funeral of the late CCC Legislator Hon Hakata. A day before his leg was amputated the family struggled to raise money to buy blood that Doctors needed. He died 24 hrs later. We must respect the family of the deceased and allow people who want to come and commiserate with the family do so peacefully.

I will be tabling a motion in Parliament to address the deplorable treatment of black workers by Chinese businesspeople in Zimbabwe. The alarming reports of unfair labor practices, dismal working conditions, and shockingly low salaries are unacceptable. But what's even more disturbing is the physical abuse and violence perpetrated against workers who dare to demand their rightful wages. This recent video of a Chinese employer shooting a worker for demanding payment is a stark reminder of the urgent need for action. I call on all Progressive MPs to support this motion and join me in demanding justice for our workers. #JusticeForZimWorkers #EndExploitation

The biggest challenge with the Ministry of Finance is their complete disregard of the constitutional responsibility of Parliament to appropriate funds in the Budget. After the budget is approved they simply ignore it and by end of the year unauthorized expenditure will be more than what we appropriated. They don’t even bother to come to Parliament for condonation. In 2025 this must change!!!

During the budget debate, a strong lobby pushed to reduce taxes on betting for both operators & punters. As MPs, our duty is to the public good. Gambling is not a normal industry. Like most responsible nations, we treat it as a "sin tax" sector because of its documented social harm addiction, debt, broken families. That's why Parliament REJECTED the proposed 10% tax on operators' gross revenue. We raised it to 25%. This applies to both operators & winnings. #Budget2024 #Zimbabwe #Parliament #FiscalResponsibility
