After the Friday prayers were done, and meeting a number of attendees, Muslims and people of other faiths, we headed to the car. When I had gotten to the car, I had just gotten a text from several brothers who said that the other protesters had asked if I would share some words with them as well. So we turned around and headed back to the quad, fortunately this time not being accosted by any clergy or other counter protesters. The sister of one of the sisters who read the Tahāwiyyah with me in Turkey several years ago, took the mic and introduced me, and I shared my thoughts not only with the protesters, but also with the counter protesters. We all agreed that the blood of children should not be spilled, but some of us are maybe woefully misinformed. I reiterated, that we should all be ready to take people by the hand and sit and discuss these things with love with them, in the hopes that we all can learn something that we didn't know from before. I also reiterated, that some people know better and still choose the path of evil despite knowing it, and we also need to be strong in the face of weathering such treachery, hypocrisy, and devilish situations when we know our cause is just.
