U.S. reaction at Security Council emergency meeting on Israel-Somaliland recognition: "Israel has the same right to conduct diplomatic relations as any other sovereign state. Earlier this year, several countries — including members of this council — made the unilateral decision to recognize a non-existent Palestinian state, yet no emergency meeting was called to express this council’s outrage. This council’s persistent double standards and focus distract from its mission of maintaining international peace and security. On the matter of Somaliland, we have no announcement to make regarding U.S. recognition." This strong support of Israel' s action shows us intent: this is indication of a upcoming us recognition once the negotiations with Hargeisa succeed in meeting US interests
