I made my first website in 1995. I remember showing it to my dad. It was like magic. Something I did on my computer at home was visible to the whole world. I fell in love with that feeling and over the next 25 years I worked on hundreds of websites. It’s still my favorite medium. Over the last few months we’ve been working on a new site and I'm super proud of what we've built. It's an audio+visual experience that will eventually host all of the 11 videos that will be released from the album coming out next year. The first three are up already with more coming every few weeks. The site was made with the amazing Aristide Benoist and robbincenijn and they made something really unique. Their level of craft and attention to detail is unmatched. I hope you like it and if you do maybe you'll retweet :)

A few times every year I realize I can't do something anymore that I could do a few weeks earlier. I remember when I realized I couldn't run anymore. Later it was walking up stairs. Then standing up, walking, lifting my arms, playing guitar, holding my child, getting into bed on my own, sitting up, dressing myself. All of those moments broke my heart. And the next one will too. And the next one. And the next one. I'm living with a disease that slowly, but surely, takes away all of my physical abilities. Trapped in a body that constantly finds new ways to tighten the rope. A prison that keeps building more and more walls. Muscles that don't work anymore. Being joined by more useless muscles. Until nothing is left but pain. And loneliness. And bones. This Önnu Jónu Son song is about the never ending march into darkness. And the hope for light.

Eleven years ago today my wife and I got married. A few months earlier our first child had been born. We decided on and planned the wedding less than a week in advance. Inviting people to a farewell party since we were moving to Japan and then surprising the guests with a marriage ceremony. We were living in a small house on the west side of Reykjavík where we hosted the ceremony and party. Since the house wasn't able to hold that many people the guests overflowed into the street we had somehow managed to get closed for the day. We rented sumo wrester outfits and our neighbours graciously allowed our guests to wrestle in their yard. There was a small jumping castle for kids out in the street. And some people doing face paint. Since it was a surprise we needed a way to gather everyone so we got a small marching band to walk into the street playing leading everyone to gather. My cousin had rented a tuxedo. He stood up to announce what was happening and then proceeded to performed the ceremony. Circus performers blew fire standing on top of our house as he announced us married. It was a beautiful day in every way. Since then we've gone through good times and hard times together. Mostly good. We now have two beautiful children, out of three total, not a bad ratio. My wife's name is Margrét and to celebrate her and our love I wrote this song for her. It was released a couple of days ago but I'm releasing the video today on our anniversary. To my love. And our love. Now and forever. Halli Spotify: YouTube: Everywhere else:

I've been on a wild ride recently. I went into a deep depression and anxiety, and for three months this last fall I was barely able to leave my bed. Looking back now, I'm grateful for that period because it helped me understand that I needed to drastically change how I think about my life. My self image was not my own, it was an imagination of who I thought other people wanted me to be. Realizing this and the effects it had on me was heartbreaking but necessary. Today I'm in a much better place. I've identified the parts of my life I want to change and I'm actively working on those changes. It's a lot of work but the results to my mental and physical health are incredibly fulfilling. ---- To celebrate this I'm releasing a cover of True Love Will Find You In The End, originally written and recorded by Daniel Johnston. I believe Daniel wrote it about wanting to find someone else in his life. But I found meaning in the song for myself as a hope for self love. Something that has escaped me all my life. ---- We made a video for the song with Anna Nemes, a wonderful Hungarian artist and film maker. She wanted to tell the story of her friend, Dávid Várhegyi, who has struggled to find acceptance as the laws around LGBTQIA have become more and more restrictive in their home country. His journey of acceptance and self love is very different to mine, but ultimately it's the same. All any of us want is to be loved for who we are. ---- You can find the song on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services. And you can find the video as well as other Önnu Jónu Son information on I hope you are able to create a situation where you can be yourself, in harmony with your society and those you care about.

My wife is my favourite person. She is strong and soft. Funny, kind, resilient, sexy, smart, supportive, talented, beautiful, juicy. I'm a curmudgeon that likes to be alone, but for some reason I always want to be with her, doing anything. We've had kids, traveled the world. She doesn't care about my success, which used to annoy me, but I realized how precious that was when she didn't care about my failures either. She cares about me. Not for what I do but for who I am. And that means the world to me. I wrote this song for her. And me and Anna Nemes shot a video for the song on a cold NYC day. I hope you have or find someone that loves you, there's nothing like it.

A couple of years ago I was the Keynote speaker at the Figma Config conference. I spoke about not letting the things you can't do stop you from doing the things you want to do. Since then I've said no to all speaking engagements but I'm going to do a couple this year and next if you're looking. Here is the Figma talk for reference. I'm adding a link in the replies to more examples.

25 years ago I woke up after having taken some pills the night before. I vaguely remembered writing a song so I played back a recording. I decided to keep the lyrics I wrote, not really knowing what they mean. Here's a live recording of that song, it's called All I Want Is You.

A couple of years ago I went through a very painful experience. I was very seriously depressed for months and had a hard time getting out of bed. With the help of good people, and a lot of hard work I got out on the other side stronger than I've ever been. To celebrate this victory, today I'm releasing my cover of Bob Dylan's I Shall Be Released. It's a song that got me through many hard days and nights. Maybe it can give hope to someone else that's struggling now.

It's easy to be grateful when things are going well. It's a lot harder when we go through dark times. But we don't learn much by success. An easy life can shelter us from having to face our fears, our doubts, our failures and faults. The only way I know to deal with hard things is acceptance, and ultimately, if I'm lucky, gratitude. Today I'm releasing a video for a Önnu Jónu Son song called Thank You. It's about trying to find the light of gratitude in the middle of the darkness of loneliness, abandonment, and sometimes self pity. The video is directed and stars the amazing Anna Nemes. A Hungarian artist, film maker and wonderful person. The lyrics owe more than a little to one of my favourite artists, Sinead O'Connor. The song can be found on Spotify and other music services. I hope you like it.

The Önnu Jónu Son website just won site of the month at awwwards., a few weeks after winning the same honor at FWA 🏅 These are the two top awards in the web industry. After 20+ years, this is the first time I've been involved in a project that won them both. Amazing work by my collaborators robbincenijn and Aristide Benoist. Three videos have been released already with 8 more to come. Whoop!

We've started construction of the 200 ramps that Ramp Up is donating in Panama City over the next 12 months. The project is done in very close collaboration with the Mayors office, and if everything goes as planned we will be expanding the project over the next few years. Accessibility is easy and it changes people's lives.
