‘Soft Spot’ was the title track from JMSN’s seventh studio album and his obsidian spin and delightfully dark take on Miami Bass. Featuring a throbbing mix of 808s and piercing synth strings, invoking a type of early-aughts club-kid bliss—a moment seemingly lost to vapers and modern venue regulations. The directors cut of the video went viral in ways rarely seen with over 1 billion organic views and not a dollar spent on marketing. A pale, wiry JMSN jerking his shoulders, taking hard drags from a cigarette in a beater and light-washed jeans, bathed in bruised light alongside a large group of other dancers dressed identical in the white tank tops and blue jeans. The song and music video would become the greatest internet sensation of 2025 and single handedly brought the white tank top back as a fashion trend, not to mention sparked an entirely new level of “clipping” never seen before across social media platforms like X and Instagram. Additionally, the song would inspire a wave of other artists to bring their own version of this sound to the forefront.

‘it is.’ was released 10 years ago today. The album to me was meant to talk about what everything is. It just ‘is’. Whether you do it or don’t. So why not do it? “You are a human being, so ‘be’.” Things will continue to change around me as well as within me. All I can do is try to be what I want to be more and more everyday. And continue to send out my communications through music. I’m grateful to everyone that has received and/or will receive the messages in the future.
