The controversial challenge from Bobby Burns on Cian Barrett. Poor? Sure… But do I genuinely think it’s anywhere close to the worst challenge in 10 years? No, I wouldn’t go that far. People can say and think what they like but the comments afterwards were below belt.

Ladies and Gentlemen I think we’ve found ourselves our next James McClean type character!

Chiedozie Ogbene💚 There’s simply not enough characters available to list the amount of stories I’ve heard about Chiedozie. Each one everyone more remarkable than the next and the perfect example of integration and genuine representation on the Irish Team. In November 2023 Jamie Weir came out and said that in 18 years of interviewing only one player thanked the day after and it was him! The video is only from a few months later where he’s spending time to take young Luton fan Josh in a race also gifting him a signed jersey from him and the team❤️ Countless other stories exist including him inviting fans he met who followed him at Rotherham and recently inviting them to the players lounge and writing messages of thanks to others who weren’t there! His sister has Down Syndrome and if you ever listen to the perspective in life it gives him and the thought process it shows how down to earth he is💙 “I'm in a privileged position. Professional footballers, we're in a privileged position to influence the younger generation….. Thirty minutes that I spend with them, it changes their life, and it has a massive impact on them. I've met some amazing people in this programme, and they've taught me a lot on how I can interact better with my little sister.” Genuinely I think he’s the nicest person in Irish Football💚

It's been just over seven years since a 14-year-old Evan Ferguson ran rings around Chelsea's defence in a friendly. He's still only 21 now, which is mad when you think about it. Plenty of great strikers had nothing to show for themselves at that age. Harry Kane had just 14 goals in 67 games by the time he turned 21, loaned out four times to Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City, then banged in 21 league goals the very next season. Robert Lewandowski was still at Lech Poznań in Poland at 21, barely known outside the country, right before the Dortmund move that turned him into one of the best strikers of all time. Olivier Giroud was playing Ligue 2 football for Tours at 21, didn't win a France cap until he was 25, and spent years as France's record scorer before Mbappé finally passed him. Evan’s early years have been far more impressive than any of those strikers and many more too! Let It All Work Out

Tommy Tiernan discussing our islands fixation for foreign football. Though I’m not the biggest fan of GAA, he makes an eloquent point in how it captures people’s attention. We need to push this argument more about encouraging others to support Irish Domestic Football.

My most PERSONAL post yet. Growing up, like so many kids, I was consumed by football. One of my earliest memories is religiously reading Match Magazine word for word every Wednesday. I genuinely enjoyed playing, or at least the idea, but it was never a “comfortable” experience, especially in a team. I always felt I had the aptitude but aside from tenacity there was always a disconnect between idea and execution. I left grassroots football before I was a teenager never returning. Years later I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia, a condition affecting coordination, movement and processing. I never had much of a chance😂 Fair enough, you’re either good enough or you’re not. But it still stings knowing my entire grassroots “career” felt like a 45 minute cumulative cameo. Away from football, business and economics always made sense to me. Money, systems, processes. I loved it. I’d eventually graduate with an undergrad and a master’s in economics, but sport played its part throughout we My athletic “development” took years though I did too Taekwondo for a bit it wasn’t until I found CrossFit where I found what fitted me. Stayed consistent, got stronger and now the “uncoordinated” kid can now do things he never would’ve imagined. We keep building! In January 2021 I formed my concept. Drawing on my love for Moneyball. I set out to bring something different to the Irish football landscape with a thread: “50 Ways to Improve the League of Ireland.” 50 became 260. The ethos lives on. Once Irish Football Blog, our “rebrand” to IFB Media just made sense. IFB covers scouting, player profiling, journalism, sports marketing and more. Alumni of IFB now work in national, international media and football. 30,000+ followers, built from 458 in 2021, modest, but I’m proud. People call it a “passion project.” It’s more than that, it demands obsession. Even then you’re never too far from negativity, or condescending comments, and not even from “trolls.” Mainstream sources are as bad. But this kid who got 45 mins of grassroots football now runs a pretty cool football page? Funny how it works, ay? IFB isn’t going anywhere. Neither am I. Let’s see what’s next!

Celtic Football Club Celtic fans, believe me I understand your frustration. However, I’m pleading, just give the kid a chance, if he gets handed the right opportunities. You’ll have a brilliant player on your hands! Plenty more where Idah came from! Follow us for more!🇮🇪
