Imagine being abandoned by your biological parents, then, decades later, in your 30s, going online to publicly shame the white parents who adopted you, protected you, loved you, and raised you to the best of their ability, while condemning them for the unforgivable sin of being “color-blind.” They didn’t raise you as a “biracial child.” They raised you as their child. And somehow, after receiving their love and protection for decades, you decide to recast their colorblindness as a personal failure and accuse them of racism, blaming them for not teaching you to see yourself primarily through the lens of race. At some point, this stops being about your childhood and becomes about the identity you have chosen to embrace as an adult. Turning the people who stepped up, loved you, and raised you into villains because they refused to reduce you to the color of your skin is not accountability. It is a profound distortion of the very people who gave you the family you otherwise might never have had.

TikTok is on fire after an influencer allegedly spent more than two years pretending to be a student in Duke University’s Physician Assistant program. Angel Victoria Murdock reportedly documented her supposed journey as a Duke PA student, building a huge online following, landing brand deals, and even appearing on a Netflix reality show. According to people who investigated her claims, she went to extraordinary lengths to make the story look authentic, wearing scrubs in videos, purchasing medical equipment, driving to Duke’s campus just to film content before driving back home, and even having fake badges made to feature in her videos. Things reportedly began to unravel when an actual student in the program congratulated Murdock online for being part of the PA program. The student reportedly said she had never seen or heard of Murdock being in the program and was blocked within minutes. Then, over the course of the semester, other students reportedly started noticing something strange. None of them had ever seen Murdock, not in class, on campus, or at program events. The biggest twist came later. After going quiet for a while, Murdock posted “graduation” photos in front of Duke Chapel, complete with a cap and master’s hood. People quickly noticed that the colors appeared to be incorrect. That prompted even more digging. According to those investigating her claims, Murdock does not appear to have a NCCPA certification number in North Carolina, where she allegedly claimed to be certified. The entire two-hour Duke hooding and graduation ceremony was also available online, with graduates called in alphabetical order. Her name was never called, and she does not appear to have walked across the stage. After Murdock was exposed, her social media accounts, which had hundreds of thousands of followers, were reportedly deleted.

Three days ago a gunman opened fire outside Venture-N, a Tucson gay bar. Two men dead. The shooter dead. Police now call it a targeted hate crime. He had a list of LGBTQ businesses on him. You probably even didn’t heard about it. Because the shooter wasn’t the approved villain. He WASN’T a white Christian nationalist. He was Ousman Ceesay, 44, a Muslim immigrant born in The Gambia. He confronted two men in the parking lot and started shooting. One of the victims was Cameron Davis Capara, a well-known local photographer and left- wing political activist who spent years documenting pro-Palestine marches, anti-ICE actions, anti-Trump, anti-fascism rallies, and anti-capitalist “No Kings” circles. The other was Vincent Anthony Siqueiros. Both were killed where they stood. Police didn’t rush out a mugshot package. Some coverage danced around the shooter’s background. National cameras never really showed up. No wall-to-wall specials. No Democratic officials lining up at podiums to denounce homophobia and demand action. The story dropped fast. That’s the tell. When the facts don’t fit the script, the outrage machine stays quiet. Two men get murdered outside a gay bar, the killer leaves a target list, and the same people who never miss a chance to lecture the country about hate suddenly have nothing to say.
