Shouting match ensues on the last day of special Parliamentary sitting on midterm review of 12th Malaysia Plan. The session erupted in a "screaming" match instead of shouting when Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim took on the floor in the rounding up of the review. "Duduk!" and "Tarik Balik!"

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Anwar Ibrahim delivered his maiden speech tonight at the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Dressed in light blue Malay traditional wear and songkok, coincidentally the president of the session is also the permanent representative of Malaysia to the UN, Ahmad Faisal Muhammad presided today. Anwar took about 16 minutes in his speech at New York. Here are among the highlights: 📕Stronger nations are increasingly casting the UN aside for smaller platforms, while they pay lip services to the imperative of multilateralism, the emergence of mini-lateralism, effectively lead to fragmented configurations of power 📕 Major powers rivalry will lead to a world where the masses are unrepresented, where the few rule over the many and the many resent the few 📕 Condemn unequivocally the Russian invasion of Ukraine - impact of the war in Ukraine has caused food prices to skyrocket, leading to shortages and hunger 📕 Calls on Myanmar to immediately implement ASEAN FIve Point Consensus 📕 Climate change - Malaysia is seeing an increase of the adverse impacts of climate change, urging developed countries to fulfil their commitment of mobilizing $100 billion a year to support climate projects and programs in developing countries 📕 Islamophobia - Malaysia is concerned over the emergence of "new form of racism" in the form of xenophobia, negative profiling and stereotyping of Muslims (Video credit: United Nations)

One of the best meme-able moments in 2018 seeing kamarulbahrin and Ashwad Ismail AWANI maintaining their cool on live TV when the former president of Transparency International Malaysia Akhbar Satar uttered these lines: “Clever clever squirrel jump, one day fall to the ground also” Yes, that’s a direct translation from the Malay proverb.

It was out of the blue when we saw the invite for a rally led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim tonight at the Axiata Arena stadium in Bukit Jalil. But, 20th September was the day, 25 years ago in 1998, he was then deputy prime minister, Anwar was arrested. Anwar, who is the leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat or People’s Justice Party, took the stage lambasting the opposition’s remarks against his leadership.

Got to give credit where it’s due, seeing how former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin 🇲🇾🌺 handled the questions from anti-vaxxers (they claimed to be ProSafe, instead of anti vaccine), he did very well. I was annoyed when the group claimed that the vaccines are allegedly bioweapon and all sorts, trying to paint the newly approved dengue vaccine as not safe - these people are literally spreading disinformation that could cause more harm to the wider public. Khairy was at the Universiti Malaya’s Asia Europe Institute to talk about Asean vaccine diplomacy and the experiences in handling strategies, challenges and the future.
