Though I have my own reservations abt Kaala as a movie, the interaction between Nana Patekar and Rajinikanth in this scene is one of the best I’ve seen in a very, very long time. Both actors elevate the scene, but Nana Patekar is something else altogether. The restraint, intensity and sheer presence, masterclass. Om Shanti, legend. 🙏

“Idhu Namma Aalu” is one of those timeless family entertainers. Bhagyaraj’s portrayal was hilarious, and despite dealing with a very sensitive subject, the film handled it with remarkable humour, warmth, and respect. My entire family still loves this film. My late grandfather, a Vedic scholar himself, never missed it whenever it came on TV. Watching him laugh through every scene remains one of my fondest memories. Varusham 16 is another movie (though not Bhagyaraj’s) is another movie that brought in a lot of nostalgia for me
