This demo is how I started retrocoding in 2024, and I'm still proud of all the hand-optimized m68k assembly I created. This is a VoxelSpace implementation running on a stock 8MHz 68000, 1MB RAM, 16 color Atari STe. I hope Kyle Freeman approves :)

In my Atari ST video codec, the decoder maintains a codebook of small tiles out of which the video frames are composed. A certain number of tiles, here 32, are updated every frame, replacing less useful ones. This approach allows for high performance and decent compression.

The lost art of color quantization. Reducing 256 colors to a palette of 16 using Simulated Annealing. The solution represents a compromise between covering the color gamut and reducing noise caused by dithering.
