Last year at the 2025 NCAA Championships, Dean Hamiti (OKST) took out Levi Haines (PSU) in the 174lb semifinals. Hamiti hit an unreal ankle pick at the start of the match, then cruised his way to the finals. Winning 4-2 by decision, over the retuning NCAA champion (157) from Penn State.

At the 2024 NCAA Championships, 165-pound semifinals. Iowa State's David Carr defeated Missouri's Keegan O'Toole 8-6, overcoming a late deficit with a crucial takedown with only 10 seconds remaining. The victory snapped O'Toole's two-match winning streak over Carr and sent the Cyclone to the finals, breaking up a projected championship rematch.
