Dozens of angry youths from the Oke-Baale axis of Òṣogbo are currently at the premises of IBEDC to protest the unbearable and epileptic power supply across Òṣogbo and its surrounding communities. The protesters, chanting solidarity songs and wielding placards with inscriptions accused the distribution company of neglecting consumers while continuing to issue estimated and prepaid bills despite prolonged outages. According to some of the protesters, many households and small businesses in Òṣogbo and adjoining communities have suffered economic losses due to erratic supply, forcing them to rely heavily on generators amid rising fuel costs. They urged the company’s management to provide a clear explanation for the persistent outages and a concrete timeline for improvement. Security personnel are at the scene to maintain order and prevent escalation, while officials of the electricity company are currently engaging a delegation of the youths. This development adds to the growing public frustration over power distribution challenges in the State, as residents continue to demand accountability and sustainable solutions. #InsideOsogbo

The actions captured in this video from Oroki Estate, Òṣogbo, earlier today raise serious concerns about professionalism, respect for citizens’ rights, and due process. Ununiformed policemen were seen jumping through the fence of a private building to gain access, a practice many residents have described as unlawful and disturbing. We call on the Nigeria Police Force and relevant authorities to urgently investigate this incident and ensure that officers operate strictly within the confines of the law. Security agencies are meant to protect lives and properties, not create fear or violate the rights of innocent citizens. Accountability and adherence to due process must remain the standard at all times.
