National Park Service staff from across the country are working hard to make DC safe and beautiful, installing and repairing more than 1,000 benches this year. Their work may happen behind the scenes, but the results are on display every day in the shared spaces that help to tell our nation’s story. 🇺🇸

Sometimes the most effective strategy in nature is doing absolutely nothing. American alligators like this one can spend hours barely moving at all. Staying still helps them conserve energy, regulate body temperature, and wait patiently for prey to come within snapping distance.
