Before you upload your selfie to Har Ghar Tiranga this Independence Day, know the risks. Your photo goes into a public gallery, visible to anyone against your name, alongside a certificate. To upload it, you hand over your mobile number & OTP, on a site reportedly built by a private company and hosted on AWS, with a privacy policy that falls seriously short. The state gets goodwill. Ray-Ban Meta glasses are designed to look like ordinary eyewear, so you'd never know you're being filmed. When our client complained, Meta said it didn't violate community standards. We've sent legal notices to the creator and to Meta. Covert surveillance isn't a design flaw, it's the product.

Your Instagram photos may now be training someone else’s AI. Meta has enabled its new Muse AI image generator for users by default. It allows people to generate AI images of you by using your public Instagram handle, with no notification when your photos are used and no way to remove images created before you opt out. To opt out: Profile → Menu → Sharing and reuse → Turn off the reuse options under “Allow people to reuse your content on Instagram and with AI features at Meta.”
