Tambo International Airport, 22‑year‑old Sylvester Boakye was the only Ghanaian found in the departure section after his government announced a free charter flight for 300 nationals wanting to return home amid xenophobic threats in South Africa. Having lived with fellow Ghanaians in Pretoria, Sylvester was relieved to go back, but after arriving at 20h00 on Wednesday he discovered by 06h00 Thursday that no other expatriates had appeared for the scheduled 05h00 flight and no officials were available to provide answers. 📷: Timothy Bernard / Independent Media #ORTamboInternationalAirport #flight #Ghana #return #xenophobic #threats
