Before he could even understand the weight of a crown, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV was called to wear one. Ascending the throne at just three years old following the passing of his father, he took on the monumental responsibility of leading millions young and old alike. Over the course of 31 remarkable years, he transformed from the world’s youngest reigning monarch into a visionary King who dedicated his life to championing education, healthcare, youth empowerment, agriculture, and the broader development of the Tooro Kingdom and Uganda. He did not just inherit a crown, he grew into a legacy. Amooti’s life was defined by a rare, inspiring humility. Despite holding immense power and influence, he remained remarkably approachable, warm, and deeply devoted to his people. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued if you had a vision to contribute, his doors were always open. This is not merely a Tooro story. It is a Ugandan story, an African story, and a global legacy. Just as Princess Diana’s journey touched the world, Amooti’s clean, purposeful slate holds an even greater power to inspire generations to come and how we honor and tell this story today will make all the difference. The depth of this loss for Uganda, the people of Tooro, and most especially the Queen Mother, Best Kemigisa, is profound. No words can fully capture the grief of losing a leader whose life was led with such grace. Ekuba entutile, we are truly at a loss for words. Rest well, Amooti. We visited this place when the plots of Land were being given out to Government agencies like 5 years ago and I saw the Tanzania Revenue Authority Land, a law was drafted to shift key Govt agencies HQs to a new location now see what has come out of that decision. It is a new and well developed City All you need is the will, 1. Nakansongola 2. Hoima 3. Mukono 4. Karamoja 5. etc
