We are saddened to share the news that our beloved sister Assata Shakur has passed away. Assata Shakur was a powerful voice for those who faced injustice. She stood up against racism, police violence, and inequality, serving as a symbol of hope and resistance for many people around the world. Her commitment to fighting for her community inspired generations of activists. Since 1984, Assata had been living in Cuba, where she was granted political asylum and could live free from the unfair targeting by the U.S. government, which sought to bring her back. Assata's life and message will continue to motivate people everywhere to strive for a fairer and just world, free from oppression and discrimination.
