This has to be the longest standing ovation for anyone or anything I have ever witnessed. 4000 high school students in Normandy, France standing to honor our World War II veterans. This area in northern France has not forgotten the events of 80 years ago. Honored and humbled beyond words to be here with my daughter volunteering with the Best Defense Foundation supporting their mission to “take care of the ones who took care of us” assisting World War II veterans as they return to the sand and soil on which they fought.

Who watched HOME FROM THE SEA this 4th of July? This episode of Magnum is powerful, emotional and raw. The situation and action further develop the protagonist’s character by highlighting vulnerability and determination, and the episode incorporates flashbacks as backstory so the viewer gets a better sense as to what made Magnum who he is. Each of my novels has a Magnum reference woven in...have you found them? Most importantly, HOME FROM THE SEA reminds us that not everyone’s father makes it home from war. “I made it, dad. Why didn’t you?”

The Jack Carr Book Club June 2026 selection is THE LOST EMPIRE OF EMANUEL NOBEL by New York Times bestselling author Douglas Brunt . With the exception of the tsar, Emanuel Nobel was likely the wealthiest man in early 20th-century Russia, and one of the wealthiest in the world. Over three generations, he and his family grew the Russian petroleum industry into a behemoth that surpassed even John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil. The Nobels imported best practices from America and improved on them, transforming every aspect of the industry. Though Emanuel’s uncle Alfred would become world famous due to his creation of the Nobel Prize, the even more successful Nobels in Russia have been largely forgotten. The reason why is one of history’s most gripping untold stories. Douglas Brunt is a New York Times bestselling author of THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF RUDOLF DIESEL, host of the SiriusXM show Dedicated with Doug Brunt, and former cybersecurity executive. This conversation explores Doug's research, insights, and writing process behind THE LOST EMPIRE OF EMANUEL NOBEL.

Have you ever listened to President Reagan’s Farewell Address? He delivered it on January 11, 1989. It is around 20 minutes long and well worth the investment. You may find it acutely prophetic considering the events of the past decades. From President Reagan’s Farewell Address: “‘We the People’ tell the government what to do; it doesn’t tell us.” “Our constitution is a document in which ‘We the People’ tell the government what it is allowed to do. ‘We the People’ are free.” “As government expands, liberty contracts.” “Thoughtfulness and knowledge.” “Informed patriotism.” “America is freedom.” “Freedom is special and rare. It’s fragile; it needs protection.” “We’ve got to teach history based not on what’s in fashion but what’s important.” “We will never forget what the boys of Normandy did.” “I’m warning of an eradication of the American memory that could result, ultimately, in an erosion of the American spirit.” “All great change in America begins at the dinner table. So, tomorrow night in the kitchen, I hope the talking begins. And children, if your parents haven’t been teaching you what it means to be an American, let ‘em know, and nail ‘em on it. That would be a very American thing to do.”

Stopped at the Buc-ee’s in Smiths Grove, KY on the way to this evening’s FOURTH OPTION event in Franklin, TN. 🇺🇸 I can’t believe I just discovered Buc-ee’s on this book tour! I think I am going to do a “road trip” book tour at some point that takes me from Buc-ee’s to Buc-ee’s. As Buc-ee’s did not have copies of THE FOURTH OPTION, I brought one in, signed it, and left it in the book section for anyone stopping by. Enjoy the read! Now I’m going to chow down on my chopped brisket Buc-ee’s sandwich paired with an XL Dr Pepper - lunch of champions 💪 See everyone tonight in Franklin, TN!

And so, on December 11th, 1980, it began… • This debut episode of Magnum, P.I. introduced the world to Thomas Sullivan Magnum. It was the first television show to incorporate the issue of post-traumatic stress among Vietnam veterans in a way that was thoughtful and respectful. • Magnum played an integral part of my childhood. If you read closely, you just might notice subtle and not so subtle references to Magnum in the pages of my novels. Have you found them?

THE ROCK premiered on this day in 1996. I had left for Navy Boot Camp a few days earlier, so I missed opening night. I remember hoping it would still be playing when I finished Boot Camp later that summer. Luckily for me, the movie was such a hit that it was still in theaters that August. I’d eventually watch it with three friends at Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence “A” School, Dam Neck, Virginia on our first weekend of liberty. We would all go to BUD/S together that January after graduating from intelligence school. All three of us made it through. “Welcome to The Rock!”
