While being held underground in Gaza, Hamas handed Omer a small Torah pamphlet left behind by an IDF soldier. Omer wasn’t observant at the time, but he begged to keep it. After making several promises, they allowed him to hold on to the weekly parsha sheet. The section it contained? The story of Yosef - thrown into a pit, abandoned, yet never giving up… and rising to royalty. “Hashem was telling me I was going to be ok. This kept me going.” Watch the full interview here:

His father is being held captive by Hamas in Gaza. He was sad that his daddy isn’t home for his 5th birthday. Total strangers made him a party and bought him gifts to let him know that he is loved by his father, he is loved by his people and he is loved by Hashem.
