"I'll take the Israeli press over the US press any day of the week," says Mouin Rabbani. "It has much better information on these issues not only because they're speaking about their own crimes in their own society, but the US press has this absolutely totalitarian attitude: You can't name the perpetrator if it's Israel, you have to use the passive voice." Mouin Rabbani says coverage in Israel is more direct since a large portion of the population accepts and supports Israel's crimes, whereas the US press needs to constantly mask and cover-up for an American audience.

Palestinians have always been "evacuated from the category of civilian," says Noura Erakat. Lebanese and Palestinian civilians have been consistently targeted by Israel, even when international law dictates that women, children, and men who are not in combat are excluded from being struck in times of war. On Eid al Adha eve, as people were celebrating whatever was left to celebrate after two years of genocide, Israel struck at the heart of a residential building in Gaza, killing six people and injuring 20, DURING a ceasefire. Yesterday in Lebanon, Israel killed 40 people and sent evacuation orders to nearly 50 towns in south Lebanon, DURING a ceasefire. This is what it means to be denied the universally protected category of civilian when Israel is your adversary.
