It's worth remembering that on October 7, the President of the United States slept through the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust because no one around him considered it important enough to wake him. He didn't learn what had happened until he woke up around 7:30–8:00 a.m. Eastern Time, more than eight hours after the assault began. No dad should know the pain of burying a child. Tragically, I've been through this myself, on April 15, 2016, when I held my little boy's hand as he drew his final breaths. And then I collapsed on the floor, crying for a half hour straight... I must say, President Biden's response to my question during a roundtable with Jewish community leaders on the ongoing devastation in Israel touched me on a deep, personal level. The president knows the pain of losing someone close. He's experienced it multiple times, nebech. I feel these are the kinds of words the world needs to hear right now.
