LA Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh - Installing the Ravens System of Defense (Mike Macdonald/Jesse Minter) - "It's the best scheme, it's got answers for everything. You're not exposed for big plays. It's great defense." - "They had different takes on the defense. Jesse (Minter) more of a secondary view down of the defense. Mike (Macdonald) kind of the middle view of the front and back end."

Nick Saban - Philosophy Evolution - "I changed my philosophy when Lane (Kiffin) came here. We said we got to outscore them." - "We don't control the ball on offense, we score." - "I grew up with the idea that you play good defense, you run the ball, you control vertical field position on special teams and you're going to win. Whoever rushes the ball for the most yards is going to win the game. You're not going to win anything now doing that."

Seattle Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald - Attacking Protections with 5-0 Fronts - "Let's not even screw with the numbers, let's just standardize it. Let's get them to a 5-0 and make them respect that we're in a balanced formation and now let's dictate to them what they have to do. And then that way we can stay ahead of the eight ball." - "That's the most inexpensive thing to do (5-0 Games) and it's probably the hardest on offensive lines to pick up consistently."

Indiana HC Curt Cignetti - AFCA "I love football, I love competition, it makes me go. I'm a pretty simple guy." "I like tape, I like studying ball. I like getting better. I feel compelled to improve & get better every single day. I do firmly believe you get better or you get worse, you never stay the same. And if you're not striving, someone else is and they're catching your ass." "One thing I am is structured/organized & I break it down to the smallest component. I got thousands & thousands of cutups & I'm making them every single day, that's what I love to do."

Indiana HC Curt Cignetti - Standards "From the first play to the last play. Fast, physical, relentless. Smart, disciplined, poised. One play at a time, 6 seconds a play. Every play has a life and history of its own, like it's nothing, nothing. Not affected by success or failure. On to the next play, never satisfied. Playing to a standard, not the circumstances in the game." "You're up the in the 4th quarter 52-7, it's not okay to let up because of the circumstances of the game. Because you're playing to a standard. Habits, first you form your habits, then your habits form you."

Houston HC Kelvin Sampson - Why Coaches Fail "I think the coaches that fail at every level, are the coaches that are passive aggressive. Passing aggressive coaches are usually afraid to hold kids accountable, they rationalize." "If you're going to build a culture, the first thing you have to come to grips with, you're going to have confrontation." Consistency Competence Confidence Confrontation

Seattle Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald - What Players Want - "Players want to be coached. They want a connection. They want a coach that trusts/believes in them & to teach them the stuff that works. They want to be challenged but you have to build a relationship first to challenge guys the right way."

Texas A&M HC Mike Elko - Defending Athletic QBs on 3rd Down - 5-0 Front / 5 Man Rush / Cover 1 Structure - Edges use up & under technique, Nose pushes the pocket, force QB to escape vs Double C Gap spies. - "You guys certainly see this at the HS level, we see it sometimes too, his feet are way more dangerous than his arm. The biggest thing I've got to do, is I've got to not let this kid run." - "The more that gets distorted between arm & feet, however you've got to do it, don't let him beat you with his feet."

Nick Saban - Defending 11P Y Off RPOs - "Well look, if your cats are better than their cats, play man to man. You got one more guy in the box than they can block, you got an 8 man front & you got all the RPOs covered." - "Probably the best way to play it if you want to play the RPOs is you have to play some kind of split safety coverage. The simplest front to play it, with the least adjustments because you're forcing the ball inside out is to play what we call Mint 4 Mod (0 Nose/DBL 4i). You're playing quarters with safeties that can fit the runs and hold on the RPOs." - "If you're going to play a 4-2, then to me if you want to play split safeties, you have to cancel gaps some type of way. You got to jam a side away from the back, pirate a side away from the back."

Oregon HC Dan Lanning - One Word Calls & Defensive Communication - Almost all calls are one word calls - EX "Marbles" tells the DEF the front, coverage & adjustments. - Call is installed with full verbiage. Marbles = Mint Jack 3 Buzz Skittles. Mint Jack = Front. 3 Buzz = Coverage. Skittles (6 Stay) is the check vs COS motion. - Pressure calls automatically set the front. - "If your guys are saying 15 words before the snap, good luck." - Important to replicate practice like a game in terms of communication. - Back 7 must confirm call and have it show up on film... Lines of communication. Oregon DEF Bundle = 56% Off

Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell - Meeting Structure "First of all I know this, you can give them deadhead if you're not careful, so hit them in spurts. You give them 20 minutes, hit them on what you need to hit them on & get them out for a couple minutes, bring them back & keep going." "It needs to be interactive, ultimately we're teachers. We're teachers in football, so how do you communicate & articulate what you're trying to get across to those players. Don't make it more complex than it needs to be, keep it simple where they can play fast, know what to do & make it interactive, make it fun.

LA Rams HC Sean McVay - Creating a Vision For Your Team - "You show me a great organization/team, I'll show you an organization/team that a trademark of that they do at a high level is they communicate really well." - "How can we be the best communicators in the world both visually & verbally. That's not exclusive to the hand signals, that's with the body language & our responses." - "I tell our players all the time, I see better than I hear. And you can really see when you flip the film on, what kind of energy are we really using from one another." - "I think there's just got to be a joy in it. You can never be stressed and joyful at the same time. So let's go have an authentic joy & zest for the opportunity to compete."

Ole Miss HC Pete Golding - Tackling Fundamentals - Approach (Tag Tempo) - Arrival (Thud Tempo) - Finish (Live Tempo) "I think the most critical piece to tackling is the approach. Approach Emphasis: Angle/Help, Long to Short Stride (Shimmy), Near Foot/Near Shoulder.

Former New England Patriots OL Coach Dante Scarnecchia - Traits of a Good Sideline Coach (OL) - A good sideline coach watches all of the offensive plays and very little of the defensive plays. - Your job is not to watch the entire game. Your job is to coach the players you coach. Watch them play & when they come off the field, coach the hell out of them. - You need to spend all your time with your players, get/impart the information and make them better for the next series they go out there.

Oregon HC Dan Lanning - Crazy Rules - Defenders can align in any position but must be within 5 yards of their assignment. - If you're a dropper, you must get counted in the protection. - Forces OFF/Protections to account for multiple random alignments. Stole the idea from Phil Longo & implemented on the defensive side of the ball. Oregon DEF Bundle = 55% Off
