“Where is the conversation in the mainstream media about the right of Palestinians to self defense?” This is not a problem of “a few Israeli settlers.” This is about accountability for the state that enables them. Thank you Lewis Goodall for allowing me to opportunity to rebut the Uk Lawyer for Israel who said there was “no dispossession of Palestinians” in the West Bank, and for not shying away from the important conversations.

I found this clip by the head of Syria's transitonal government Ahmed al Sharaa in conversation with documentary filmmaker Joe Hattab very enlightening, so I added English subtitles for a Western audience. Particularly noteworthy points: -Sharaa says he considers the Revolution to be complete. He says now is the time for building a state and state institutions, and that a revolutionary mindset can topple a regime but cannot build a state. -He says its important to prioritize building the state and achieving justice and accountability through its institutions and processes, as opposed to seeking personal/individual rights, or more narrowly the right to accountability/revenge on an individual basis. -He describes the immense pride Syrians feel now in being Syrian, in contrast to years when their passports meant nothing and they would be belittled at airport customs, whereas now the passport carries weight because of what the country has become and what people have achieved via the revolution. Caveat: I'm not a professional translator but I hope I got the general points across in this clip. I haven't watched the entire interview (which has 1.8 million views and counting), but it is here in Arabic with English subtitles that are much better than mine! And if there are glaring errors in mine, please feel free to correct in the comments.

Just last November, the UK submitted an intervention in the ICJ case regarding the Rohingya genocide, stating that the threshold for the definition of genocide should be lowered when children were being killed. In Gaza, with 10K children dead, the UK takes a different stance. The accusations of double standards, the selective application of international laws and norms, will impact the UK’s standing and diplomatic credibility for years to come. The moral implications of the ICJ ruling should not be underestimated.

BBC: “Is there not a red line that you believe would break the camel’s back [re US support for Israel]?” Me: “If this is not that moment, with 1.5 million people trapped, terrified, on the brink of starvation, with nowhere to go, I’d like to ask my former colleagues what is.”

"Israel acts upon its own assessment of security rather than an assessment based on its partners." I asked Dubai Public Policy Research Centre's Director General Mohammed Baharoon to assess whether the Abraham Accords was a good investment. This is what he had to say:

Many thanks to CNBC International CNBC Squawk Box Europe for having me on this morning to share “Day 9” thoughts on the Middle East. Three things I’m looking at: 1-Opportunities for off-ramps more difficult given U.S. and Iran ratcheting up their rhetoric—but not impossible 1/

"We are perceived as someone that actually pushed Trump to this war, a war that actually, it's a strategic failure. This is a risky move for Israel." With another round of talks on the horizon and Netanyahu bragging about getting daily readouts from JD Vance, Danny (Dennis) Citrinowicz ,داني سيترينوفيتش talked about whether Netanyahu, in achieving his lifelong dream of a joint US-Israel war on Iran, has actually sacrificed something much more important to Israel: Its relationship with Americans.
