I love Ted Lasso. And I love this story about Brett Goldstein (the actor who plays Roy Kent). Brett was hired as a writer for the show but started to feel like he actually could be one of the characters… So he filmed himself doing a couple of scenes as Roy and sent it to the team for consideration. He already HAD a job on the crew but he probably wouldn’t have been cast as a character without going out of his way to prove himself and then ASK for the role. What else might you accomplish if you just pushed a little further? If you asked for what you wanted?

I think about this idea from MrBeast a lot. Community can be an unfair advantage when you find people to share with and learn from. When you’re operating solo, you just can’t compete with someone who is learning from the experiences of several others in real time.

Every creator needs to see this. Tim Ferriss is one of the best content creators ever. His longevity and work quality are unmatched. And in this clip with David Perell, he highlights the biggest opportunities (and risks) facing creators today: Reputation and credibility. He calls credibility “the new gold” and in a world where the ability to make *something* gets easier and easier, quality and integrity become the scarce resource. If you want to be in this game for the long term, you can’t make short term compromises. And Tim is a fantastic role model.

I interviewed Jenny Hoyos and learned a TON about YouTube Shorts. If you don't know Jenny, she averages 10 million views per video on Shorts. And she learned (in part) by studying ALL of the Shorts from MrBeast and Ryan Trahan. Seriously – she literally scraped and analyzed the transcripts of thousands of Shorts. This week, she shares it all with us: • How she comes up with ideas • The structure of her Shorts • Why she edits to be exactly 34 seconds • How much she thinks about retention ...it's a masterclass. And it's live on our YouTube channel right now!

I can’t stop thinking about this exchange between Brandon Sanderson and Tim Ferriss. Brandon Sanderson is a New York Times #1 bestselling fiction author. He’s sold 40 million books. He wrote five entire books just for practice, knowing full well he wanted to be a professional author. That’s dedication to the craft.

"Should I lower my prices?" When someone says your price is too high, what they're ACTUALLY saying is that your price is higher than their perception of value. You could lower the price to meet their perception... OR you could raise their perception of value to meet your price.
