District Attorney CA Five-Term (Ret.), Past President of DA Association. Authored Prop 36, a 2024 crime law passed by 70%.
Videos

This retail theft mob happened at a Nordstrom in California today. Because of broken state laws, these crimes are considered “non-serious” and “non-violent” and nobody will go to state prison, even if caught and convicted. State laws need to be fixed and YES, many people need to go to prison for this type of crime. #California #Crime #RetailTheft #FixProp47

Urgent Message to all CA Police Chiefs, Sheriffs, DAs & LEOs - An imminent threat to our combined efforts to reform Prop 47 has been stealthily and cynically launched by the Governor & some Sacramento politicians & lobbyists, in a move that even some Democratic lawmakers have described as “deceitful,” “immoral,” and “undemocratic.” We need your immediate assistance and advocacy. Here is the situation: Days ago, proponents of “The Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act” (a People’s Initiative that will qualify for the Nov 24 ballot) learned that the Governor’s office directed Sacramento lawmakers to insert a “poison pill” provision into their current package of bills dealing with retail theft and other crimes. The purpose of the Governor’s “poison pill” language in the crime bills is to guarantee, subject to legislative votes, an automatic repeal of those same laws should the People’s Initiative be enacted by voters in Nov 24! This unprecedented & unethical gamesmanship is designed to punish the voters of CA & anyone who might support the enhanced accountability sought by the People’s Initiative to amend Prop 47, which goes much further than the legislation to effectively address the fentanyl/drug, retail theft and homeless crises. In addition, this “poison pill,” if successfully passed, will immediately trigger a critical rewrite of the “Official Title and Summary” of the People’s Initiative by the CA Attorney General. This is what voters will see on the ballot. This is the potential political kill shot they seek! As you know, a negative amended “Title and Summary” by the AG, as a result of the “poison pill“ legislation, could irreparably doom the People’s Initiative. This is 100% their goal & this perversion of Democracy is their play. On Tuesday, June 11th, the bills with the new “poison pill” language will begin to be voted upon by politicians in the Capitol. URGENT ACTION REQUESTED: 1) Contact your respective association leaders & lobbyists and ensure they “OPPOSE” any crime bills that contain the new “poison pill” unless that language is removed. 2) Contact your lawmakers and urge them to “OPPOSE” the “poison pill” perversion. Dems & Reps both know this 11th hour plot is undemocratic. Remind them. 3) Inform your business community and constituents of this outrageous situation & ask them to contact lawmakers. In close - Many of us have spent our entire professional lives fighting side by side for truth, justice, victims and our communities across CA. Thank you for standing for principles. @CalChiefs CSSA @PORACCalifornia California District Attorneys Association

Appreciate her passion, but LA Mayor Bass can’t fix the rampant crime in Los Angeles or CA without addressing broken state laws/policies. A day after she stated the latest high-profile retail mob thieves would be held strictly accountable, one was arrested on low level felonies, not a single serious or violent felony or robbery, and then immediately released from jail on zero bail. People have lost faith in justice, for good reason. We need a reset. #Crime #California #RetailTheft #ZeroBail

This is disgusting California politics. 1. A drug dealer poisoned & killed their daughter with a pill laced with fentanyl. 2. Democrat public safety leaders in CA then repeatedly blocked their sponsored legislation to add a warning to the law for fentanyl dealers. 3. The Gov and Dem leaders then tried to kill the citizens’ initiative, that the family supported to carry the admonition and their daughter’s name, by proposing a watered-down proposal using her name, without the family’s permission. 4. The Gov’s Chief of Staff then called the family to apologize and mispronounced their daughter’s name. 5. The Gov and Dems leaders then abandoned their competing initiative. 6. And now, the Gov and Dem leaders are aggressively trying to defeat the family yet again by killing Proposition 36, that legitimately carries Alexandra’s name. #Fentanyl #DrugDealer #Yeson36 ARTICLE: How California lawmakers played politics with a young woman's memory

Hurling a rock at a car like this is a dangerous prison eligible felony under state law. The perpetrators should be pursued by state & local cops & prosecuted. We must protect federal immigration officials too. CA is not a sanctuary for lawlessness. #California

Statement from District Attorney Jeff Reisig on UC Davis Attack on April 3, 2025 Woodland, CA — I condemn the violence that occurred yesterday on the campus at the University of California at Davis. The attack directed at a peaceful student-sponsored event was outrageous and clearly criminal. This hateful conduct will not be tolerated in our community. The Yolo County District Attorney’s office is committed to working closely with state and federal law enforcement to investigate this matter and bring all the offenders to justice. There are clear indications from the evidence, including video footage of the crime, that this was a coordinated effort, which makes it a felony under California law. Conviction of such a crime carries up to three years imprisonment. My office is steadfastly dedicated to protecting freedom of speech and the right of peaceful assembly for everyone. Efforts to attack or undermine these fundamental rights have no place in our free society. Individuals who have information regarding this incident are encouraged to contact investigators at the University of California Davis Police Department. (530) 752-1727

The LAPD Chief is right, the justice system in California is now a revolving door joke. Decriminalization efforts, early prison releases of unrehabilitated & zero bail policies have thrown open jail doors and emboldened criminals & created more victims, all while our great cities decay. We need a hard reset on failed criminal justice policies in California. #Crime
