This footage, during which doctors and refugees transferred NICU babies, some injured, from one part of Al-Shifa to another to save their lives, while the army of a nuclear power, supported by Western powers, attacks a hospital, shows the true face of Zionism, Israel, and their supporters. Difficult scenes from my hometown, Deir el-Balah. I’m usually very conservative about sharing content like this, as it exposes people in their most vulnerable and painful moments. But this serves as a reminder of Israel’s brutality and criminality, of what this regime is capable of, and what it’s allowed to commit with impunity—fully backed by governments and institutions in the West through money, arms, and propaganda. I share this to show you what has been enabled, so that this evidence is never erased or buried. Justice will be ours, sooner or later, without a doubt.

In 2018, the Choir of the Edward Said Conservatory of Music in Gaza performed this song. The clip, with its moving words and performance, vividly encapsulates Gaza’s enduring pain and pride. One can only wonder how many of those who appear in this video are still with us today.

The world feels on edge, and evil has become unbearable. In the middle of all the ugliness and uncertainty, there can be hope. Hearing these girls sing about the beauty of the homeland and the promise of sunrise in Gaza is a reminder that hope can exist even in the worst moments.
