Quite a staggering press conference by the Power Minister I must say... Here is a point by point summary of the presser which may be helpful. 1. He starts off by admitting hamaray control mein kuch bhi nahin... 2. Then he says PMLN ne hamesha ke liye awam ko load shedding ke azab se azad kiya, in a presser about excessive load shedding for which he is apologising. 3. He first admits the role of LNG shortages in the load shedding issue, contradictory to the govt trying to press that this is because of reduced hydro electricity production. 4. Then he pivots to say that the issue is indeed of hydro electricity; a 1700 MW shortfall because the water cannot be released; effectively blaming the agriculture sector. Ridiculous, because the reservoirs are for irrigation, and hydroelectric production is a by product. It is the inability to plan for this that is on the govt. 5. Then he says there is no loadshedding during daylight hours, because of solar production - the same solar the govt tried to discredit. The claim is not true. Scores of feeders in Peshawar are seeing unannounced all day outages. 6. Then he says we have double the production capacity from gas (that we can't use because we have no more gas), and that we are using all the furnace oil in the country; effectively saying there is a fuel crisis in the country. 7. Then he says the wag the dog kneejerk power strategy effectively also led to industrial load shedding, so now the govt is damaging the economy as well as making consumers furious. 8. Then he says HESCO & KE is not suffering additional load shedding because there is enough power in the south, then why not the same logic to KP and Tarbela??? 9. Then the piece de resistance that the 2.5 hours load shedding is to reduce electricity bills for the public - which seems to be the most amazing marketing spin by the power sector for this unmitigated disaster. And to rub salt into the wounds he says this is the result of the major power sector reforms or which he is proud. Another raid last night. This time in Islamabad, where my wife and children live; complete with AK47s, masked men, and climbing over gates. Remember. I am not an absconder. I have submitted to the law. Remember, I have bail in all the known cases against me, including May 9, where the bail is confirmed, and it is on record that no evidence was presented. Meanwhile, at least two ex colleagues who have not applied for bail, were leading a jalsa for PTIP yesterday in Peshawar. All this does, is prove who is right and who is wrong. This can't be about 9th May, because we submitted to the court and now have bail. For me this isn't about Imran Khan, as much as I respect him, it is about trying, humbly, to stand up for what's right, and the sort of politics we should have. This country shouldn't be run like this. The police shouldn't be treated as a joke. The judicial system shouldn't be disregarded. Politicians shouldn't be for sale. Maybe someone should tell me, how to explain to my children how the law works in Pakistan? Or why I left my career to serve my country, because I believe in it? Or why these cameras should be security against thieves, not the police? I hope the judiciary see this, and make up their minds about how they want the government and state to apply the law; and I hope the media see this and decide at what point they decide to call a spade a spade. We will continue to try our best, and have faith in Allah.

🧵 Crooked ROs derailing democracy? This is a complete video of the hearing by the RO PK79, Arshad Afridi, on the instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (OFFICIAL)🇵🇰, on February 15th. The RO is asked whether he has any Forms 45. He says no. He is then given a copy of the Forms 45 and read the result polling station by polling station. He does not dispute the polling station results. When he is told by the lawyer that the count did not happen in front of the candidates, he does not dispute it. When lawyer Ali Gohar Durrani finishes his arguments, Arshad Afridi says he will need to consult his lawyer since he is not a very learned person. After, when I ask Mr Afridi as to why as RO he did not allow me inside, he says it is because he was not in charge of security (it was not in his hands). When I ask him whether the fact that the results in my Forms 45 are so different to what he has notified, does it not amaze him? He says he will need to look into it. After agreeing that he left the stadium at 3 am, RO Afridi claims that he returned to the stadium and announced the result from the RO room. But when confronted with evidence that after 6 am, I had access to the RO room and the DC and SSP Operations told me that the RO was not there, he he retracts his statement and agrees he was not there. Make up your own mind about the truth. To date, sadly Chief Secretary Nadeem Chaudhry, not IG Akhtar Hayat Gandapur have taken any actions or called any explanations of the officers present in the room; DRO Afaq Wazir or SSP Operations Kashif Abbasi, or CCPO Ishfaq Anwer who denied access to the complex to all contesting candidates including me. As a reminder, on PK79, having obtained 25102 votes and a 5x lead over the number two candidate, the 5th place candidate having obtained 1609 votes was declared elected in the official result.
