During a September 30, 1969 session at the Record Plant, Jimi Hendrix was joined by Buddy Miles, Duane Hitchings and Stephen Stills. Stephen arrived inspired by the beautiful new song "Woodstock," he had just heard at Joni Mitchell's place. With Stephen leading the charge on organ/vocals and Buddy on drums, Jimi came through on bass guitar (played upside down no less) for several particularly superb renditions of this new Joni Mitchell composition. This take is featured on the BOTH SIDES OF THE SKY compilation released in 2018. #JimiHendrix #Woodstock #StephenStills #BuddyMiles #JoniMitchell #BothSidesOfTheSky

On September 25, 1969 Jimi Hendrix was joined by Buddy Miles at the Record Plant where they recorded this stunning take of "Room Full Of Mirrors," a song he had revisited several times extending to sessions in August 1968. This new take on an old theme, although unrehearsed, featured a faster pace, punchier drums and a short burst of "Message To Love" in the mix for good measure. The full-length track is featured on the MORNING SYMPHONY IDEAS album available from the Dagger Records "official bootleg" label imprint. On June 10, the city of New York celebrated Jimi Hendrix's enduring legacy by co-naming West 8th Street as "Jimi Hendrix Way." This milestone is a testament to years of dedication from family, friends, fans, and community members determined to honor Hendrix's legacy. Together, they ensured that his story remains woven into the fabric of Greenwich Village. "A street sign may seem like a simple thing, but streets tell stories," explains Janie Hendrix. "They remind us who came before us and whose contributions helped shape our communities. From this day forward, every person who walks past this corner will be reminded of a young musician who dared to imagine something different and, through talent, perseverance, and creativity, changed the world." #jimihendrix #jimihendrixway #newyork #greenwichvillage

"I’m gonna wave my freak flag high ..." "If 6 Was 9" represented yet another bold creative leap forward for Jimi Hendrix. It was recorded over the course of two days (May 4-5, 1967) at Olympic Studios. "Section A" was the song's opening section while "Section B" began where the vocals come into form. The second half was also described as "Symphony Of Experience" on the tape box. "I adore 'If 6 Was 9'," explained Hendrix. "That was a complete jam session, then we put the words on afterwards. That's me on flute. Gary Leeds and Graham Nash did some foot stomping, and that's (Chas) Chandler's big feet on the fade-out. 'If 6 Was 9' is what you call a great feeling of blues." Featured on The Experience's sophomore album AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE, the track was also prominently featured in the 1969 film and soundtrack for EASY RIDER.
