“Jim started bugging me to play something very basic, very primitive on my drums. Finally I gave in and started playing the dumbest 4/4 beat I knew, and Jim began singing: ‘Five to one, one in five, no one here gets out alive.’ ‘What does five to one mean, Jim?’ I asked. ‘That’s for me to know and you to find out,’ Jim said.” -John Densmore

"Mr. Mojo Risin’” is an anagram for Jim Morrison, a wild little secret he reveals right in the middle of “L.A. Woman.” As John Densmore recalled, Jim started chanting the line, pushing the band to speed up, and later scribbled the letters out to show it spelled his own name. Hear it in the track here:

The song that opened the first door. “And Jim’s there and he’s so shy... but then I get these words handed to me on a piece of paper, ‘Day destroys the night, night divides the day.’ Whoa, break on through to the other side, it was like hearing drum beats when I read them. And so that was the beginning.” -John Densmore Watch the music video for “Break On Through (to the Other Side)“ here:

"Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?” “Hello, I Love You” was written by Jim in 1965 after he spotted a beautiful woman walking on the beach. Inspired by the moment, he composed the song that same night, but it wasn’t recorded until three years later. Listen to the track here: #JimMorrison
