I remember rehearsing for this bit on the sidewalk outside of the Tonight Show with Billy Joel and his band. I asked him, “Should we just do The Lion Sleeps Tonight?” There were two other songs. He said, “Well let’s just try it now with my band.” And that turned into three doo-wop songs on an NYC street corner. And THAT turned into this bit. Happy birthday to the one and only.
