My first 5km in weeks here in the south of Sri Lanka; it really hits home what kind of monumental feat Russ Cook is doing DAILY by conquering 70+ kilometres per day running the length of Africa for the past year nonstop. This heat alone is bloody sauna-esque and although I’m currently pretty unconditioned to running, the discomfort I felt meant I couldn’t help but imagine what it’s like to be in his shoes; the injuries, illnesses and treacherous conditions that he must have to combat through for hours every single day in Africa. Mind-blowing. His ability to sustain the pain of the urge to quit with a relentless attitude to achieve a goal is something I and many others have been inspired by Russ and his team throughout their mission. The logistics/film team of Stan Gaskell, Jamie & Guus are documenting the entire thing on Russ Cook’s YouTube channel, so have a look if you wanna feel inspired and motivated by a lad and his mates that decided they CAN.
