The reason there will be no ‘fuel crisis’ in the Netherlands is that every town, city, &amp; village in the land is connected by fully-segregated cycle lanes. It’s possible for the Dutch to simply stop driving while fuel is short and prices are high. That’s real energy resilience.

In the Netherlands, where the Dutch invest in safe cycling, the over-65s cycle around a quarter of their journeys, while the over-80s cycle around 10% of theirs. Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and cycle lanes don't 'restrict freedom', they expand it.

If every council in the U.K had introduced the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, School Streets, cycle lanes, and 24-hour bus lanes I delivered in 2020 when Cabinet Member for Transport in Hackney, we wouldn’t need to worry about yet another ‘petrol crisis’…👇

I have a message from the Netherlands for every Councillor, every Parliamentarian, and every Assembly Member in the country who thinks the U.K’s roads are safe enough for your children. Get on board or get gone.

The aggregate effect of rainwater gardens, swales, and street trees on biodiversity, heatwave mitigation, and surface water absorption, and mental health and wellbeing is enormous. Getting them into every city, town, &amp; village in the U.K should be a strategic national priority.

An LTN opponent once FOI’d ambulance times inside the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods I delivered in Hackney, but kept the results quiet, because ambulances were found to be getting to addresses in the LTNs more quickly than before they were introduced…😂
