"Many relationships eventually look like they're going in the right direction but are sacrificed to an unwillingness to do battle. And you wind up sort of at the end of your life having been stripped of people who somehow gave in to the other side. And the ranks get thinner and thinner. I'm sort of living in that era." John MacArthur in 2019

TGC Council Member Jim Davis addressed Charlie Kirk’s assassination in his sermon, suggesting more “gospel sensitivity” could have prevented Charlie's murder and the response to it. Quote: “This kind of gospel sensitivity [Christ's compassion] could have spared our country a lot of pain this week… and I don’t just mean in the murder, but in the things that led up to and even followed in the aftermath.”

The Empowerment Ministries Christian Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. Senior Pastor Gregg Magee graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His wife, Irene Magee, is the executive pastor of the church, and they regularly feature female pastors and speakers during Sunday morning service. The Bible says no female pastors, the BFM says no female pastors, but Empowerment Ministries Christian Center says no.

Northwood Church in Keller, TX is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The church appears to lean further left politically than many Southern Baptist churches, expressing support for aspects of the Black Lives Matter narrative on racism and partnering with World Relief in refugee resettlement efforts. Pastor Scott Venable has stated that racism is “everywhere in the fabric of our country” and described confronting it as a “gospel issue.” He also criticized Christians who he says are “screaming about the wrong things” on immigration, instead of helping asylum seekers live in America. Unsurprisingly, Northwood Church employs multiple female pastors and supports women preaching during Sunday worship services. The Bible says no female pastors. The BFM 2000 says no female pastors. But Northwood Church says no.

Jonathan Leeman and Mark Dever talking about Dever’s upcoming appearance at Shepherd’s Conference in light of the Q and A from 2019 and the fallout over social justice. What’s interesting to me is that John MacArthur called social justice the most dangerous threat to the gospel he had experienced up to that point. Thabiti Anyabwile, whom Dever says here he also agrees with about the gospel, made social justice a gospel issue I don’t know how many times. Dever places this issue in the category of politics, but those whom he says he agrees with theologically despite political differences, actually saw this as a soteriological issue.

Both David Platt and J.D. Greear have the same basic response to the documentaries exposing their deceitfulness. 1. Assume the church members are wrong. Ruslan assumes the lawsuits were dropped. Uh, one is ongoing and the other one was decided against McLean, but Platt just lets Ruslan tell a lie favorable to himself. 2. Frame it as persecution. Both Greear and Platt frame opposition to their evil plans as in the same category as the persecution of brothers and sisters overseas. They make it sound pious, because they admit they're not experiencing the *extent* of persecution, but they put their plight in the same *category.* It's somehow persecution. 3. Don't give any actual answers. Neither Platt nor Greear answer any of the actual objections to their church takeover plans. They just try to give spiritual people connect with because we all go through trials in our own lives. 4. Imply the issue is over fidelity to Christ. Platt talks about how he couldn't compromise on justice, as if that's what he was asked to do. Greear makes out like he's offending people because he preaches the Gospel. He even conflates the law and gospel, which is another more serious matter. But, the point is, they are righteous, their critics are not.
