I'm curious about the life of the people who work in Chinese factories: + Are they like 1950s Americans who dislike their job, but are satisfied with rapidly rising living standards? + Or is sitting in a chair, jetting paint on toys just clearly a step up from toiling in the fields? + Do they resemble the characters from "Roseanne" - salt of the earth types who lack the human capital to rise elsewhere in the culture? + Are there Norma Rae style agitators? From where are they drawing their ideas? + Or is it like pre-war America where you have introspective geniuses who spray paint by day and write poetry by night? We focus so much on the high-stakes geopolitics, but the human-level questions are rarely explored.

A great example of the slow and steady progress of 3D printing is that it's now possible to print functional fabrics with low-cost FDM printers. It's not economical, but think of where this technology was in 2016. What a fascinating modern age we live in.
