Had Fable build a tool that lets me turn shots from movies into previs I can provide to Seedance, the same way I'd show a cinematographer the shots I want to emulate.

Mary Sue Bloopers! Directing an AI film is a lot like directing actors and working with a cinematographer. People think you type a prompt and out pops a movie. That's not how it works. You provide a prompt and reference images/videos/audio to generate a take. It's not right. You adjust and go again. And again. And again. With traditional filmmaking, you talk to the actors to adjust performance and the cinematographer to adjust lighting/camera, but everything else about the shot basically stays the same. You don't have to worry about telling the potted plant on the table to stay put. With AI filmmaking, it's not just the performance and the camera that change. Everything in the frame can change on the next generation. You get a perfect performance in a room that won't cut with the other shots. Or a gorgeous camera move with a character saying the other character's lines. For every minute of Mary Sue you see, there are about 12 you don't. Here are some of my favorite failed generations.

Claude Fable just built this entire product from one prompt. I'm blown away. Shotblock is a 3D shot-planning tool for AI filmmakers — real lens math, actor blocking, 180 ° rule warnings, animatics, storyboard + prompt export. It researched storyboard conventions, wrote its own test suite, verified everything in a browser, and deployed it. Then I asked for a promo video. It scripted, recorded, and edited the one below with minimal direction. Give it a try. Free, no signup. Feedback button in the app for any issues or feature requests.

"AI movies have no soul" is the laziest critique in film right now. The soul was never in the puppets or the camera. It's in the choices. Which take. Where to cut. What the kid does with his eyes when the candy starts to move. I made every one of those choices. The machine just rendered them. Take One: a Fun-Size Halloween short. Made with Invideo.

Redeeming Babel, founded by Russell Moore, David French, and Curtis Chang, took $308K from the USAID-funded Rockefeller Foundation and $200K from Bill Kristol's Defending Democracy to push The After Party curriculum in churches. The leftist infiltration is fully exposed.

“It probably took him a half hour to an hour to do.” Tim Pool on Mary Sue episode 4. 😂 Episode 3 dropped on July 14th. I started working on the story for episode 4 shortly after. First shot was generated on August 1. I worked on it every day until release on August 25. Early mornings, late nights, weekends. I brought on a post house to help get it across the finish line. 8 people worked on this in various capacities. Generative AI video is an incredible new way to acquire footage but turning it into a film is still a lot of work. There is no easy button. But I appreciate the shoutout on Timcast. Would be happy to come on and talk about filmmaking with AI any time.

John Ford directed more than 80 movies before Stagecoach. That's the real advantage of AI filmmaking: reps. I could have spent the next year learning to sculpt these puppets and build this set. That's a real craft that I admire. It's just not the one I'm trying to master. I'm trying to get better at telling stories, and now I can tell a lot more of them. Fun Size, a fun-sized Halloween film. Made with invideo.

I gave Claude Opus 5.5 the original 1982 Gremlins screenplay and access to Invideo's new MCP and told it to make a trailer for the film using only the screenplay. No existing references from Joe Dante's films were permitted. Claude designed the creatures from the script's descriptions, then wrote, generated, scored, and cut this trailer on its own using Invideo. I provided no creative input beyond the initial prompt, which told it to make it look like it was from 1984 and use practical creature effects. What do you think? How'd it do?

Sometimes the thing you’re most afraid to say out loud is the very thing someone else has been waiting to hear. I made a little paper-cut animated short about loneliness, honesty, and the birth of friendship. Created with Invideo

This is what every Christian wants to tell their pastor. "Men don't follow titles, they follow courage. Now our people know you. Noble, and common, they respect you. And if you would just lead them to freedom, they'd follow you. And so would I."

I've always wanted to direct a Busby Berkeley-style musical number. Now, thanks to Invideo, I have. Beyond the Screen is a modern take on Busby's signature style. Enjoy. See below for a full breakdown of how I made this. 👇
