I’m thrilled to share that our short film “It Takes A Village” 🦌⚡️🤎 made it into the American Black Film Festival (AMERICAN BLACK FILM FESTIVAL ) this past week in Miami. Meeting other filmmakers and being affirmed by the community and the stories we’re telling was an incredible experience. This was my first film festival, and showcasing such a personal film to the world was everything.

“It Takes A Village” 🦌 — A Film by Joshua Kissi⁣ Becoming a father for the first time is a moment of pure joy and overwhelming reality. This experience inspired my short film, as I held my son for the first time, I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of father I would be and what it truly takes to raise a son and a family. These reflections fueled my desire to create this film, bringing together an incredible cast and crew to tell a story that resonates deeply.⁣

Me and my friends made a film. 🎬✨ 🦌 “It Takes A Village” started as a reflection on fatherhood but grew into a example of impactful community effort. Production is a prayer—it took a level of vulnerability and hard work, and I don’t take it for granted once the credits roll. It was important to document this process.
