The gas station worker who saved more than a dozen. On October 7, 23-year-old Bedouin Muslim Masad Armilat was working at a gas station near Sderot when the Hamas attack began. Instead of hiding, Masad ran outside. He gathered terrified people fleeing the massacre, including wounded Israelis and Nova survivors, and rushed them into the station’s safe room. More than a dozen people crowded inside. Masad locked the safe room to protect them, locked the store, and placed gas cylinders near the entrance. He then went outside to warn drivers away from the area, where terrorists were shooting at people. At one point, a terrorist fired at Masad from close range but missed. Later, eight Hamas terrorists arrived in a pickup truck and tried to break into the store. They eventually gave up and left. Everyone hiding inside survived. For his bravery, Masad received the Israel Police’s “Exemplary Citizen” award. A 23-year-old Muslim Israeli risked his life to save complete strangers. #October7Heroes
