According to data golf, Brooks Koepka gained .89 strokes OTT today in his second-round 69 after losing .41 yesterday. Apparently, Koepka realized his Titleist GT3 hosel setting was in B1 (.75˚ flat) instead of his preferred A1 setting (standard). Q. Big difference between yesterday and today? BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, just drove it better. Some of my setting on the driver switched if A1 to B1. No one noticed it. Switching back to A1, which is what we usually had it and just driving it better. Q. Noticed that on the front nine yesterday when you looked down? When was the moment? BROOKS KOEPKA: On the driving range yesterday. Q. After your round? BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, after the round, yeah. What's wild is, at least according to when I shot photos of Koepka's driver in Phoenix earlier this year, his driver has been in B1 all season. He currently ranks 76th on the PGA Tour in SG: OTT in 2026 with .111. He was 7th in the stat in 2021, his last full season on Tour.

Tommy Fleetwood called Augusta National "perfect 9-wood golf course. Fleetwood has been using a 9-wood since 2023 and said the high flight can really be beneficial at the Masters. "If I can put myself in position on the par-5s or the 4th long par-3, like it — for me, I can't really hit that high 4-iron, so 9-wood helps me a lot."

Kikuyu is a funny grass. When it’s tightly mown, the ball can almost look teed up. But it doesn’t grow straight up. It crosses and weaves over itself, creating cushion under the ball. Add moisture and things get interesting. As Vokey rep Shane Dyel put it, if the ball is sitting higher and you find that higher strike point, launch goes up and spin goes down. Not ideal on the PGA Tour, where the goal is lower launch with spin off grooves 2–5. That’s why this is one of the busiest weeks of the year for the wedge reps. Players who normally live in T and L grinds start testing M. Some look at K*. Subtle sole tweaks. A touch more bounce. Only Marco Penge actually made the full switch this week. But plenty were thinking about it. This is one of the rare weeks where turf actually changes setups.
