One year ago today, in Harbin, China, Junhwan Cha made figure skating history as the first South Korean male skater to medal and win at the Asian Winter Games. Through this, he also became the first figure skater to be exempted from Korean military conscription.

"My mother died 5 years ago, but she would've been so grateful and touched that I want to express, also from her, our gratitude." — On February 15, Martina Corgnati, the daughter of the late Italian singer, Milva, visited the Korea House in Milan to give Junhwan Cha a CD of the song 'Balada para un Loco' and a unique set of Italian stamps issued in honour of Milva. Although she was unable to meet Junhwan, she expressed her gratitude to him for choosing to skate to her mother's song. 🔗:
