As a Ugandan, I honestly envy Rwanda. 🇷🇼 President Paul Kagame knows how to market his country, attract global opportunities, and put Rwanda on the world map. Dear East African Community, why can’t we reclaim our African heritage by restoring the indigenous names of our lakes and rivers? Let us learn from Burkina Faso, which has renamed administrative regions and provinces using indigenous names. Africa must reclaim its identity, history and cultural heritage. It is time to restore names like Nalubaale in 🇺🇬 and Nam Lolwe in 🇰🇪 instead of continuing to rely solely on colonial-era names like lake Victoria . Our history should be reflected in the names of our own landmarks.

I always tell people that if Gen Muntu had the kind of audience Mr. Kyagulanyi has, we would be much closer to politics of ideas. Government would face stronger pressure on corruption, poor service delivery and impunity, while issues like unlawful arrests, abductions, and peaceful political transition would receive more serious attention.
