A fresh cloudburst has been reported in the Batkoot area of Pahalgam. According to initial reports, Wardbal Nallah and several nearby streams overflowed within a very short span of time following an intense spell of rainfall. As a result, the water level in the Lidder Nallah has risen by several feet in just two hours. Interestingly, water levels in the Sheshnag Nallah and the Aru Valley have remained largely under control. The sharp rise in the Lidder, despite its main upstream tributaries remaining near normal, confirms that an extremely intense, localized cloudburst occurred over the midway — surrounding forested catchment (near Batkoot), rapidly feeding runoff into the river.

Road clearance and restoration work is currently underway. Commuters are advised to avoid the highway and follow official traffic advisories until the road is reopened.
