Today's Schedule: The Princess of Wales, in her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards, will visit the regiment at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Mons Barracks. Her Royal Highness will join the parade and present the traditional sprigs of shamrock to the Officers and Guardsmen, who will then distribute them along the ranks. She will also present shamrock to the Irish Wolfhound regimental mascot. The ceremony will conclude with a Royal Salute and march-past, during which the future Queen will take the salute as Colonel of the regiment. During the visit, The Princess will award Long Service and Good Conduct medals to soldiers of the regiment. She will also meet members of the Irish Guards Regimental Association, as well as the “Mini Micks”, junior cadets from Northern Ireland. The Princess will later attend the Sergeants’ Mess to meet with members of the regiment and their families, recognising the important role they play in supporting the Armed Forces.
