If you’re a Muslim living in India, you’ve definitely experienced what this movie scene shows. The majority community has this habit of putting others down — earlier it was Dalits, now the same attitude has shifted towards Muslims. Honestly, nothing has changed… this mindset is built into them somewhere. One of the most common things Hindu friends say during an India vs Pakistan match is: “So… who are you supporting today?” They say it like a joke, like it’s “light banter,” but deep down there’s hatred. Maybe it’s the kind of stuff they hear at home during dinner conversations — the stereotypes, the discrimination, the casual bigotry — it all shows. They carry this rotten mindset where Muslims are automatically treated like outsiders or enemies. And what’s ironic? Even after witnessing thousands of riots, lynchings, and killings across the country, we Muslims still haven’t developed that kind of hate for them. We still see them as part of our country, but they never truly see us the same way. I’ve gone through this myself. Ever since this current regime came to power, I’ve lost childhood friends — literally people I grew up with, shared lunch with, people who used to come to my house on Eid. But during the Shaheen Bagh protests, just because I said the law was discriminatory, they suddenly started spitting venom. I was called anti-national, Pakistani, terrorist — everything — just because I didn’t support their favourite political party. Honestly, I’m glad I saw their real faces. And the funniest part? The same friends who used to blindly defend the government have now started criticizing it — because they finally got a reality check. College life was easy, but once they entered jobs, responsibilities, and real life, suddenly the “regime” didn’t look so perfect anymore. But we’re not on talking terms anymore — and I’m actually happier that way...
