Pregnenolone steal syndrome is where a female's body will use pregnenolone to become cortisol instead of the woman’s fertility hormones. Cortisol and all sex hormones are derived from pregnenolone. If your cortisol is too high in the morning due to stress, trauma, artificial blue light exposure, or any other cortisol-increasing activity like exercise under artificial light and surrounded by non-native EMFs (which clip ACTH and raise cortisol), you are most likely going to end up with PSS. Your body senses high cortisol and decides that you’re not in an environment safe enough to make a baby. I see PSS a lot in my clinical work with busy, high-achieving mums. It’s a big reason why we are seeing a massive decline in fertility. The good news is that it’s easily reversed.
