(Mar 29, 2025) Jeong Deok Hyeon, a pop-culture critic and one of the seven judges for the Baeksang Art Awards 2024 in TV category, revealed the reason behind the issue of Kim Jiwon not being nominated for the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards on 蘑菇食堂Mogu 💔 JDH: Actually, that became a bit of an issue recently. Like in Queen of Tears, people were saying, "Huh? Kim Jiwon didn't even get nominated?" 👤: Yeah, that’s right. JDH: Do you know why that happened? When the first round of judging started, it starts pretty early. Queen of Tears hadn't even begun airing yet. So there was a lot of debate over whether to include it or not. Since it barely made the cutoff, there's actually an original standard. If a certain percentage has aired, then it becomes eligible. But it was difficult for us to judge it properly without having seen the full content. At the point we were watching it, male lead's performance stood out clearly, but Kim Jiwon's hadn't really shined yet on the video. That's why she didn't make it into the nominations and actually, we explained all this to Kim Jiwon's agency and Actress Kim Jiwon also heard it and accepted it all. The public doesn't know, though, so they just criticize us. Q. As an actress, you come across countless lines in scripts. Has there been a sentence recently that became an answer to one of your own questions? 🦭 There was a project called , and at that time I worried a lot. “What’s the right choice? What kind of project should I do now?” There was a line from the character Lee Eunoh that said something like, “I’m going to erase all those words saying ‘It’s scary’ and ‘It can’t be done.” That one line stayed with me deeply. I think it became a project where I let go of many worries and challenged myself wholeheartedly. Once you actually go through something, it may turn out to be less serious than what you feared. Somehow, you get through the present. If you can be a little braver and throw yourself toward the place you truly want to go, then your future self will somehow find a way to solve it.
