Very positive first formal meeting of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill Committee. Another session of oral evidence was timetabled to ensure the committee will hear from a wide range of witnesses, both orally & in writing, for this next stage of scrutiny & debate.

Today the Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined me in thanking colleagues for their hard work on the Terminally Ill Adults Bill committee, and confirmed that if Parliament passes the Bill, the Government will respect the will of the House & ensure its safe implementation.

Very emotional to meet Tony Marra on the 2nd anniversary of his sister Paola’s assisted death in Switzerland. Paola had terminal bowel cancer and died at the age of 53. All she wanted, like so many other terminally ill people, was choice & dignity in her dying days.

So upsetting to hear that the inspirational Nathaniel Dye MBE has passed away. Nat was a tireless campaigner on #AssistedDying, despite knowing that it would be too late for him before the law is changed to give terminally ill people choice in their dying days. Thank you Nat❤️

Following a number of very emotional meetings with my constituents, I spoke in Parliament today on the crisis in #MentalHealth. The government keeps talking about the need for parity between physical & mental health, but the reality is very different😔 It’s just not good enough.
