🕊️ PEDESTRIAN KILLED AFTER VEHICLE LEAVES ROADWAY IN SOUTHEAST D.C. 🕊️ WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man who was waiting at a bus stop was tragically killed Tuesday evening after a vehicle left the roadway during a crash in Southeast Washington. At approximately 6:01 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Sixth District officers responded to Suitland Road and Southern Avenue SE for the report of a serious crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that one of the vehicles involved struck a curb at the traffic signal before leaving the roadway and striking the victim, who was waiting at a nearby bus stop. The adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Marine Veteran Fights Off Armed Carjacking Attempt in Oxon Hill; Four Teens Arrested OXON HILL, MD — A Marine Corps veteran fought off a group of armed teens who attempted to carjack him in broad daylight this week in Oxon Hill. According to the victim, Jheyco Borda was working on his truck outside his home around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday when four hooded teens approached him and attempted to take his vehicle at gunpoint. Surveillance video captured the confrontation, showing Borda refusing to surrender and physically resisting the suspects during the attempted carjacking. The suspects ultimately fled the scene without taking the vehicle. Following an investigation, authorities arrested all four suspects believed to be involved in the incident. Borda later shared the video online and urged residents to remain vigilant. “Be careful and be aware of your surroundings,” he wrote. The investigation remains ongoing.

TRIPLE SHOOTING IN SOUTHEAST D.C. LEAVES ONE DEAD, TWO INJURED; HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY WASHINGTON, D.C. — A triple shooting in Southeast D.C. has left one man dead and two others injured, prompting an active homicide investigation.
