On the shield: Peter “Hasta La Vista” Fouché It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Pete, our beloved director and founder. There are no words that can do Pete’s life justice. No words or phrases that could ever encapsulate how much he meant to all of us. Pete's unwavering dedication, endless compassion, and relentless commitment to Ukraine and her people have left an everlasting impact on the countless lives he touched. His heroism knew no bounds. He was actively involved in saving more than 200 wounded Ukrainian soldiers, evacuating civilians from the most dangerous frontline cities, as well as bringing humanitarian aid to people in those towns and cities. Pete’s bravery and selflessness in the face of danger were nothing short of extraordinary, and his actions will forever be etched in our hearts. Pete was more than a leader; he was a beacon of hope, a true hero, and a friend to all. His wisdom, compassion, and faith in God inspired us every day. His death feels like the worst nightmare: the kind of nightmare where you wish you could wake up, but then we wake up and realise that it wasn’t just nightmare. We will honour Pete's memory by continuing the work he was so passionate about, carrying forward his legacy of courage and kindness, of fighting for what is right, and of speaking up in the face of injustice. Rest in peace, Peter. We know that our Heavenly Father has welcomed you into His arms. Your heroism and contributions will never be forgotten and we will make sure that it was not in vain.

Today marks the six month anniversary of Pete's death. It feels like forever ago and it feels like yesterday. Time ticks by and we know there's a lot of uncertainty about what the future will hold. Many things are out of our control, but you know what isn't? Our actions. We - all of us - get to wake up each morning and decide how we're going to spend the day. We get to decide how we react to things. Choose to help Ukraine. There's a lot of noise online. Drown it out, stay focused. There are lives that rely on the fundraising done by ordinary people like us - like you. And if you get tired and wonder if it's worth the effort, just remember: Even if just one life is saved, it was all worth it. Even if just one soldier gets to return home because of your efforts, it was worth it. Razom do peremohy

Your neutrality kills/killed “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” - Archbishop Desmond Tutu It’s 10 years of russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the third year of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the neutrality and appeasement of world leaders and governments, have led to the deaths of thousands of Ukrainians. We might never know the full death toll, as russia has been using mobile crematoriums to hide its crimes since 2014. On 4 April 2024, russia continued its habit of double-tapping civilian infrastructure, this time claiming the lives of firefighters, one of them a close friend of ours. We would like to ask Jake Sullivan Archived if he would still be as scared of russia if it was his country that was being invaded. We would also like to ask Speaker Mike Johnson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, House Republicans, and the House Democrats who haven’t yet signed the discharge petition if they would have attended Vladyslav’s funeral if they were in Ukraine, if they would have given Vova a hug to console him, or if they would have continued to choose the side of the aggressor — apologies — if they would have continued to stay neutral.
